Cih Feng Temple in Pingtung City on Zhongshan Road is one of Pingtung's oldest and most popular Matsu temples, commonly known as the "Ahou Matsu Temple." Dedicated to Mazu, the Heavenly Holy Mother, its incense tradition spans more than 300 years. Legend holds that worship began in the 15th year of the Ming Yongli era (1661), when settlers who followed Koxinga to Taiwan brought the sacred image, initially enshrined in the official yamen. A formal temple was built in the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty and rebuilt in the 5th year of Daoguang (1825), named "Cih Feng Temple" to symbolize Mazu's compassion and protection of the people.
